Don’t Give Up
No matter how shitty the world is, I am not going to give up. I had my coffee, did laundry, took care of the animals, and did dishes. I also planned my wardrobe for my European trip and tried not to catastrophize. I worked on a letter to my congressman and donated to a couple charities. We are a community.

And the Fascists Are In The House
Target has joined many other piece of shit stores in getting rid of DEI. Fuck them. Fuck the government, fuck the nazis. I will not roll over. Looking for ethical replacements for those fascist collaborators. Not another cent of mine will go to them. May they all crumble into dust.

Don’t Stop Believing
Today is MLK Day. So remembering his passion for equality for all is easy. What is hard is actually doing anything. One easy thing is to not let people get away with making racist comments. Call them out. Let them know that you do not accept racism.
Shown is my sign from the Woman’s March 2017.
Another thing you can do is donate to an organization that supports the rights of all people. The ACLU, and HRC (Human Rights Campaign) are both great organizations and always need funding. Some times we want to try to work on a grand scale, when doing small everyday things is just as effective. Changing one heart or one mind is enough. Be the change.

Before the Storm
Looks like we are getting hurricane force winds again this is a serious and terrible thing. So many communities are affected by the fires these winds spread. Consider donating to a local shelter, or foster a pet for someone displaced. My little loaves here are comfortable, but once the wind starts they get very anxious :(

Last of the Garden
I had a few random bits left over from my Fall garden harvest. A couple tomatoes that I had harvested green and left to ripen in a paper bag, the last Violetta de Gama onion, garlic, parsley, dill, mint, a lone red pepper that I think was a pasilla, Meyer lemon, and pomegranate avrils. To this is added some farro, chick peas, dried cranberries, a little sumac, white vinegar, lemon olive oil, salt and pepper to taste. It is so fresh and makes me think of warm days.

Life Is Change
Never thought I would see social media in its death throes. X (formerly twitter) Meta (Facebook, Threads, Instagram) have all seen a mass exodus of users to other platforms such as Bluesky and Mastodon. Makes us all long for Myspace, am I right? Will this signal a resurgence in blogging? What will fill the void? Most of my friends stopped blogging in the mid 2010s. Most online forums that we used to connect and keep in touch have long gone away. Webrings are no more. People have this insatiable need to find community. We will make a community if we have to. I don't know what he future holds, but I do know it holds change. Nothing stays the same. Life is change.
